Fundraising Events (Ep. 10): Charity Bibs

In this episode of Fundraising Events, Bryan Jenkins is joined by Kathy Wise of Semper Fi & America’s Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to providing resources and support for combat wounded, critically ill and catastrophically injured members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. The organization is grant-based and has given away $246 million and assisted over 26,000 service members since inception. It has three main focuses: transition, family member support and integrative wellness. Through its integrative wellness is a program called Team Semper Fi, which is a program that assists the organization’s service members with recovery through sport.

“Our two programs work side by side, which is really amazing, because it helps our fundraising with the interaction with the service members that they are fundraising for.”

Kathy Wise

Join our conversation as we learn more about Semper Fi & America’s Fund and how the organization has seen success through charity bib fundraising, as well as uncover:

  • Finding success through charity bib fundraising
  • Recruiting people to fundraise
  • Motivating fundraisers with experiences
  • Creating a fundraiser toolkit
  • And more!

“We really try to focus on the excitement of being a top fundraiser, what can we do and finding those fundraising incentives… We found that [fundraisers] are not motivated by an incentive, such as a piece of swag… For the most part, they are motivated by experiences.”
