The Bfit Challenge powered by National Guard features a run, walk, step challenge that invites first responders and anyone else to join together, raise awareness around health and fitness, and support first responder charities. This one-of-a-kind community event is organized by the Boston Bruins Foundation (BBF) and takes place at TD Stadium in downtown Boston. After two back-to-back years without their live format due to COVID-19, the event came roaring back on February 6, 2022 and saw a 66% increase in registration.
How the Boston Bruins Foundation Uses GiveSignup | RunSignup
Cover Page and Website
BBF created a professional, dynamic, and well-organized event website by enabling GiveSignup | RunSignup’s cover page tool. This allowed them to add unlimited content blocks featuring diverse media such as text, images, call-to-action buttons, and an embedded Youtube video.
Because the site is fully integrated with registration and fundraising activity, BBF was able to show live progress with a donation goal thermometer, top fundraisers leaderboard, and a countdown clock to event day. Sponsor logos were also prominently displayed, creating additional value for their valued partners.
BBF also took advantage of the opportunity to use multiple pages and dropdown menus to organize critical information most relevant to Bfit participants and supporters. Going beyond event logistics, BBF provided sample communications to help their fundraisers raise more.
Flexible Registration Options
Building off the last two years that forced the event to use a virtual format only, Bfit organizers offered a hybrid model in 2022. Allowing participants to choose how they participate either in-person or on their own gave them incredible flexibility to support BBF their way. Custom questions were used to capture information about first responders and assign them to categories for results and other special recognition.
RaceDay Checkin App
BBF used GiveSignup | RunSignup’s powerful tool, RaceDay Checkin App, to prioritize the participant experience and execute quick and easy check-in for their supporters. Staff and volunteers looked up attendees by scanning QR code from confirmation emails or searching by name using their own devices and the password-protected app.
Statistics on the number of check-ins were available in real time for Bfit organizers on both the app and in their race dashboard.
Conclusion
The Boston Bruins Foundation (BBF) created a fully-branded website for their Bfit Challenge event that served as a one-stop shop for registration, donations, fundraising, and event information. The centralization of revenue-generating activities and event logistics helped BBF save time and raise more for first responders charities. Many other professional sports teams and their foundations use our GiveSignup | RunSignup including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Memphis Grizzlies to build relationships, strengthen their brand, and give back to their communities.
