Peer to Peer Fundraising Donation Transfers

GiveSignup is excited to announce that donation transfers are available for peer to peer fundraising events. Donation transfers let event directors transfer donations between individuals, from teams to individuals, and across teams so that fundraisers can meet their minimums. This feature is purpose-built for peer to peer fundraising events that use fundraiser minimum auto charge if supporters have not met their fundraising commitment, but want to provide some flexibility.

There are 4 key components to P2P Fundraising Donation Transfers:

  1. Donation Transfers
  2. Reports
  3. Display Options
  4. Fundraising Minimum Auto Charge

1. Peer to Peer Fundraising Donation Transfers

To initiate a Donation Transfer, navigate to Fundraising >> Reports >> Donation Transfers. This page will be blank by default. Click Transfer Donations to do your first donation transfer.

Next, search and select the fundraiser (individual or team) that you want to transfer money from. Then search and select the destination individual or team fundraiser. Then enter the amount. As you input amounts, the dynamic descriptor changes so that you can clearly see the amount transferred and the new fundraiser balances. Check the confirmation box and then click Transfer Donation.

Note that you cannot delete or reverse a donation transfer. If you need to reverse a transfer, you would need to do a new transfer to achieve the desired fundraiser balances.

2. Reports

There is a Fundraiser Donation Transfer report when you navigate to Fundraising >> Reports >> Fundraiser Donation Transfers. It is blank by default. Select the donation period from the dropdown, then click Search.

The report shows all donation transfers within the selected donation period. You can export the report by clicking Download from the bottom right.

Once you make a fundraiser donation transfer, the Fundraiser Report (Fundraising >> Reports >> Fundraisers & Team Fundraisers) will also update to show 2 new columns: Transfers and Collected After Transfers. Transfers is the sum of all transfers to and from that fundraiser, and can be a positive or negative amount. Collected after transfers is the new amount that the fundraiser raised.

There are also quick links to Transfer From/Transfer To, which will prefill the Fundraiser Donation Transfer form with that individual or team.

3. Display Options

Once you complete Fundraiser Donation Transfers, the amount raised by an individual will be the total from the new “Collected After Transfers” amount. This transfers will also display by default on the scrolling donor list, as shown below.

You can customize amount and donor scroll display options by going to Fundraising >> Individual Fundraisers >> General Settings. Choose from the options. You can also add a custom label to the text that displays on the donor scroll.

Note that these frontend options are just for display on fundraising pages. We don’t display total transfer amounts, or distinguish transfers from/to with negative amounts.

4. Fundraiser Minimums Auto Charge

The primary use case for Fundraiser Donation Transfers is to help fundraisers meet their fundraising commitments. GiveSignup’s Fundraiser Minimum Auto Charge can be accessed by navigating to Fundraisers >> Reports >> Fundraiser Minimums. You can learn more about Fundraiser Minimum auto charge options here.

The Remaining Amount Required on the Fundraiser Minimum Report now reflects the delta between Fundraising Minimum and the new Collected After Transfers amount. When you auto-charge, invoice, or email reminders about remaining fundraising commitment amounts, this will account for all Donation Transfers.

GiveSignup continues to invest in peer to peer fundraising events. We have released dozens of strategic features like Donation Transfers, Donation E-Cards, and Umbrella Fundraising Teams this year along with dozens of display and reporting options. GiveSignup is best-in-class and FREE peer-to-peer fundraising software that helps solve complex event management problems while providing a superior fundraising experience that helps nonprofits raise more.
