Bring Back My Individual Fundraiser

Signing up to fundraise is even easier with GiveSignup’s newest release – Bring Back My Individual Fundraiser. When your Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Event renews, GiveSignup makes it easy for fundraisers to return by automatically carrying over their previous year’s settings to their new fundraising page. This streamlines the setup process and gets them fundraising faster.

Bring Back My Individual Fundraiser Settings

Your P2P Fundraising event can choose which settings fundraisers are able to bring over, including description, slideshows, and goals. By default, all settings are checked. This default setting is optimized for fast fundraiser setup – with the option for fundraisers to update any info brought over from last year. You can review and update the settings that fundraisers can bring back by going to Fundraising >> Individual Fundraisers >> Fundraiser Copy Settings.

Please note that:

  • If you prefer fundraisers to have an updated default message for their fundraising pages, uncheck Personal Message.
  • If you use Fundraiser Minimum auto-charge, fundraisers will still need to opt in to the auto-charge agreement when setting up their fundraising page.
  • Fundraiser Team will only be pre-selected if the previous year’s Fundraising Team was brought back by one of the team captains. Right now, that means enabling Bring Back My Team (Team Fundraisers >> General Settings >> Bring Back My Team). Note that in the next couple weeks, we will enhance Bring Back My Fundraising Team with the same functionality we have added here for Individual Fundraisers.
  • Bring Back My Individual Fundraiser settings will also apply to additional registrants that you sign up. For example, a parent that registers themselves and their child will see both of their individual pages pre-populated with last year’s customizations.

External IDs

External IDs are how we connect fundraisers (and all of the data for their page settings) year over year. Do not uncheck the setting to copy External ID for fundraisers. You will see External IDs on the fundraiser report if:

  • Your P2P Fundraising event has renewed and opens registration for the second (or third, fourth, etc.) year on GiveSignup, and returning fundraisers sign up after 12:17 PM EST on January 13, 2025 (when we deployed Bring Back My Individual Fundraiser).
  • Your event already imported custom external IDs for individual fundraisers in past years, and returning fundraisers sign up after 12:17 PM EST on January 13, 2025. We will continue to use those custom External IDs when your race renews so that fundraisers consistently use the custom external ID.

Year 2 of event on GiveSignup – Allison’s second year fundraising and Bob’s first year fundraising.

Year 3 of event on GiveSignup – Allison’s third year of fundraising and Bob’s second year of fundraising.

You will not see External IDs if:

  • This is your first year using GiveSignup for peer-to-peer fundraising. You will see external IDs after renewing for next year’s event when fundraisers return.
  • Returning fundraisers signed up for this year’s event prior to 12:17 PM EST on January 13, 2025. The external ID will be their Fundraiser ID from the previous year with a rsu- prefix.
  • Fundraisers sign up for your event the first year. Note that the auto-generated external ID moving forward will be their Fundraiser ID from the first year they fundraise on GiveSignup with a rsu- prefix.

While fundraiser IDs change each year, the External ID (whether imported or auto-generated) stays the same. This allows us to bring over last year’s settings to fast track fundraiser setup. In addition, it serves as a unique identifier that stays the same YOY, allowing you to link fundraisers YOY when you export fundraiser data from GiveSignup. We will bring the same pattern to Fundraising Teams in the next couple of weeks.

GiveSignup continues to invest in building great technology that helps Peer to Peer Fundraising Events raise more money. Bring Back My Individual Fundraiser streamlines the fundraiser setup process and gets supporters fundraising faster.
